Third party vulnerability {Bash}

Dear Customers,

Please be aware of discovered vulnerability for Bash, impacting Linux and UNIX distributions and Apple’s Mac OS X.


The security group released a vulnerability announcement for Bash on September 24, 2014. You can find more information about CVE-2014-6271 report by following the link.

Security impact and attack vectors’ investigation is published on Security Blog.

The fixed version of bash are released by the OS vendors:


1.      To check if the system is vulnerable, execute the following command:

2.  $ env x='() { :;}; echo vulnerable'  bash -c "echo this is a test"

If the system is vulnerable, the output is:

this is a test

If the system is not vulnerable, the output is:

bash: warning: x: ignoring function definition attempt
bash: error importing function definition for `x'
this is a test

3.      To fix a vulnerable version, follow the instructions for updates installation from OS vendors’ announcements.
Note: system reboot after installing the update is highly recommended!

  1. Affected system components and possible workarounds for the additional security issue CVE-2014-7169 are described in the RedHat article Bash Code Injection Vulnerability via Specially Crafted Environment Variables (CVE-2014-6271).

Our Classic Customers may experience an issue with their FTP services, but you have nothing to worry about, we have an alternative solution for you;

-          Please use File Manager in your  Classic Control Panel instead, here is the steps how to;

-          Please contact our Technical Support if you want us to upload your files manually

-          We have our  newest OnCloud platform where you will have more updated interface, and more options. We can migrate you there for free


Our OnCloud customers and sometimes Classic Customers, may have difficulties with .PST files, in this case, Please use Mail Client. We have outlined it for you here
